How it works
About five minutes, once. Order matters, so follow the steps as written.
Prepare Cubase
- Use Cubase 14 or 15. Fresh install? Open it once and quit, so it creates its preferences.
- Save your project and quit Cubase. First-time setup closes Cubase to install its files.
Check: Cubase is closed and your work is saved.
Get KeyCmds
- Join the list. When your invite arrives, sign in on keycmds.com and download the Mac app.
- Install KeyCmds, open it, and sign in with the same account. Stay online for this first sign-in.
Check: KeyCmds opens Connect to Cubase.
Connect to Cubase
- Choose your Cubase version. Not listed? Open Cubase once and quit, or pick the folder that holds Key Commands.xml.
- Click Allow Accessibility and turn KeyCmds on. Setup can’t continue without it. Grant Full Disk Access only if KeyCmds asks.
- Click Install Macro-Universal. If macOS asks to let KeyCmds control Cubase or System Events, allow it.
- Keep Cubase closed until setup finishes.
Check: The install confirms success and the Continue button unlocks.
Open Cubase and test
- With KeyCmds running, open Cubase and your project.
- Open Atlas and confirm your tracks are listed.
- Run one action from Operator and watch it happen in Cubase.
- If KeyCmds asks you to restart Cubase, save first, then use its button. Cubase loads new shortcuts only at launch.
Check: Atlas shows your tracks and the action runs in Cubase.

Does KeyCmds make music?
No. It organizes, cleans and runs actions in your session. Composing is yours.
What's the difference between Clean Names and Pro?
Clean Names renames tracks. Pro adds Organize, Atlas, Operator, Vault flows, automatic checks with one-click fixes, the Mentor inside the app, and unlimited Clean Names.
Which Cubase versions?
Cubase 14 and 15 on Mac; Cubase 15 requires macOS 14 or later.
Windows?
Not yet. Join the waitlist.
What leaves my Mac?
Your audio, MIDI and project files never leave your Mac. The app only sends a license check and anonymous usage events. Privacy Policy.
Can I undo Clean Names?
